Creating The Sculpture
Amirah's Initial Sketch
During our brainstorming process when we had first began our collaboration, Amirah proposed this idea of creating a physical art piece combined with an element of digital media. She intended to create a sculpture using recycled materials to create irony in the treatment of our planet and how it is our actions that are effecting the environment.

To create the base of the sculpture, we all came together to papier-mache a parcel box supplied by Ines. We used newspapers supplied by Amirah and glue supplied by Kyle. We coated the exterior of this box in 3 layers to ensure the box would dry hard and solid, creating a sturdy base for the sculpture to be glued to.
Amirah then proceeded to sculpt the head, which was a block of styrofoam from a parcel that was carved with a blade to resembled a head and shoulders of a human. The head and shoulders were then covered in newspapers by the process of papier-mache. Amirah had noticed weather forecasts in the newspapers she was using, and decided to cut those sections out and stick small fragments of the weather forecasts all over the head and shoulders, to further highlight the absence of a permanence of a future due to the way we are treating the planet, since those weather forecasts signified climate change.

Final Outcome
This was the final outcome of the sculpture which we took into the forest to take images for this website.

We are happy with the outcome as this sculpture has exceeded our expectations and though all may not have been originally planned, the creative decisions made along the way has strengthened our intentions for our project and increased its value.
